A tall ­loggia is the meeting point for the building community.
Staggered recreational areas are distributed along the brightly lit entrance hall, providing users with spaces for encounter. Various communication zones are grouped around them, including the student forum or the library.
The 8 m wide lane inside the workshop is also the central access corridor. Vehicles can be loaded and unloaded while protected from the weather outdoors.
The roof construction above the open exhibition levels consists of up to four layers of stacked and curved glued laminated timber beams.
A two-storey spectator gallery provides the underground sports hall with natural daylight in select areas.
The historically listed Sherness Dockyard Church in the British county of Kent became a community centre. Hugh Broughton saved the church, built in 1820, from falling into decay.
