Residential Tower in Berlin

The architects Max Hacke and Leonhard Clemens created a residential building in Berlin as a prototype for redensification. The seven-storey apartment tower is situated in the interior of a Wilhelmian era block border structure. It covers a footprint of only 54 m² and incorporates the roof of the neighbouring volume. The project originated in the roof extension of the latter building, which in turn required an additional stairwell. This resulted in the idea to utilise the new means of vertical access for creating further apartments on the adjacent vacant lot.
